Cash4Clubs

Sport in the community is about local people, local facilities, local groups and organisations working together to provide opportunities to enjoy sport. Betfair and SportsAid recognise the importance of community sport, so Cash 4 Clubs has been set up to facilitate fundraising for community sports clubs throughout the country.

Cash 4 Clubs offers all sports clubs in the UK the chance to win grants ranging from £250 to £1000. It is a simple scheme aimed at giving community clubs a helping hand and provide the opportunity to raise the money they need to invest in their club.

If your club wants its application reviewed at our next panel meeting, make sure you submit it by midday on Friday 8 July. Any applications received after the deadline will be reviewed in October 2011.

County Clubs Open Meeting

As part of the AGM’s Any Other Business, our new Chairman, Andy Barnes, suggested that in order to try and improve how the County serves it’s clubs that an ‘Open Meeting’ be held to ‘brainstorm’ ideas. We are open to any suggestions and hopefully this meeting will be the starting point to creating some Working Groups to develop some of these ideas further.

Some examples of ideas suggested informally at the AGM included;

  • Assistance for clubs aiming to increase the participation in Hockey locally
  • Organised County Masters Hockey
  • Specialist Coaching opportunities for Senior players
  • Resurrection of Senior (Over 18s) County Teams (Men and Ladies)
  • Club County Cup competition(s)
  • Contributing towards representatives travel costs to AGM and Council meetings

Please spread the word around your club, have a think about how you would like the County to help YOUR club, and bring some ideas to the meeting;

  • On Wednesday 13th July
  • At Highfields (Upstairs conference room)
  • Start 7:15pm

There may be a reward for attendance.

EHB Statement – Coaching

From 1st January 2012, no coach except those licensed at UKCC Level 2, or above, will be permitted to coach independently.

All coaches need to be adequately qualified to coach independently.

The former England Hockey Coaching Committee, the Coaching Department and the Hockey Coaching Implementation Group across Great Britain (formerly the UK Source Group (England, Wales &Scotland) have debated this issue at length and approved the following policy statement:

‘From 1st January 2012, no coach except those licensed at UKCC Level 2, or above, will be permitted to coach independently’

This is a reminder to all Level 1 coaches that time is running out and following 4 years of previous notice that coaches must be qualified at Level 2 to coach Independently.from January 1st 2012

Please click on the following link to the web site for a full explanation and it is suggested that anyone planning to coach independently should enroll and upgrade to a level 2 during this summer

New Quicksticks Online Training Course Launched

Quicksticks

EHB are celebrating the launch of the new Quicksticks online training course and the best news is its absolutely FREE!

Available via the Quicksticks website, the course has been designed as an additional training tool to sit alongside the current Quicksticks INSET courses as a more flexible training option.

The course appropriately trains deliverers to introduce hockey at instructor / entry level within a primary school or hockey club setting. It is aimed at non-specialist Primary Teachers, non-teaching schools staff (teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors etc), and Community Sports or Hockey Club Coaches / Assistants.

Through a series of short videos the course explains the game of Quicksticks, and takes you through the Quicksticks equipment and resources. You can then take your pick from a selection of videos showing how easy Quicksticks challenges and lessons are to set up and deliver. The videos show Quicksticks being played on a variety of surfaces, (artificial pitch, sports hall, playground and netball court), with different ages and group numbers, showing you just how fun and adaptable Quicksticks is!

Take a look and see how you can adapt the delivery of Quicksticks to suit the environment within your school or club at www.playquicksticks.co.uk. Don’t forget registration is FREE and you can log in at any time and access the course when you need to!
