L1 Coaching Course at Manor Sports Centre – HURRY CLOSING DATE SOON!

Please see attached an application form for a Hockey Level One Coaching Course which is running at Manor Sports Centre in Mansfield – please circulate this around your club and to anyone you know who might be interested in attending. Please note, candidates must be aged 16 on the 1st day of the course to attend.

Application forms need to be sent to Elaina Leithead, England Hockey, The Hockey Pavilion, Loughborough University, Ashby Road, Loughborough, LE11 3TU (along with the consent form if under 18) or email to midlands@englandhockey.co.uk.

The Nottinghamshire Hockey Development Group has secured a small amount of funding to financially assist people who attend this particular course and who are coaching in clubs within Nottinghamshire. I have negotiated with England Hockey to exclusively open this course to Nottinghamshire clubs until Friday 6th September – please note after this date the course will be open to anyone across the country. Due to this, and along with England Hockey now having an online payment system for coaching courses, candidates are required to inform Elaina of the contact details of the person making the £160 payment so she can telephone them and take the payment over the phone.

Once booked on the course, The Nottinghamshire Hockey Development Group will be informed of the names of the candidates and on completion of the course, those candidates will be reimbursed some funds – the amount of funding per person will not be confirmed until we know how many complete the course but it will be a minimum of £20.

If you have any queries regarding the course, please contact Elaina directly on 01509 228676 or email midlands@englandhockey.co.uk.

Two New England Hockey Competitions for 2013/14

England hockey are formalising two new competitions for the 2013/14 season.  If anyone is interested in forming a ‘County’ team for either, please contact me ASAP at gareth@nottshockey.org.uk

Entry forms can be found HERE

MEN’S OVER 60’S CUP

Profile: A new competition for 2013/14

Format: Each competition is played on a straight knockout basis. Teams who enter the Cup and lose in the first round will be entered into the Trophy, guaranteeing two matches.

Cup Entry Criteria: Very few clubs can field a team of players over 60. Entry is based on “County” teams. Eligibility to play for a team is based on playing for a club in that county or living in the county. More than one team may enter from a county, or two counties may merge to form one team. Team contacts will need to show authority (please send with your entry form) from the relevant county to play under their name. Players must be 60 or over on 1st September 2013.

Finals’ Day Sunday 4 May 2014

Women’s Masters Over 45s Cup & Trophy

Cup Entry Criteria: Open to all Over 45s teams. Teams can play an unlimited number of guest players from up to five
local clubs. There is no separate Trophy entry. Players must be 45 or over on 1st September 2013.

NHA 2013 AGM Calling Notice

Notice is hereby given of the 2013 Annual General Meeting of the Nottinghamshire Hockey Association

The meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th May 2013, 7:15pm for 7:30pm
AT: Highfields (Upstairs Conference room)

Clubs are invited to send TWO voting members to this meeting.

The Agenda, Minutes of the previous AGM, officers reports and any other relevant papers will be placed in this post on the NHA website at least 7 days before the meeting.

Please note that the post of NHA rep to the EMHUA (East Midlands Hockey Umpiring Association) is vacant.  As NHA do not have their own Umpiring Association we send a nominated representative to EMHUA.  This post would ideally suite a club umpire who is willing to aid the development of umpiring in Nottinghamshire.  Duties include (but are not limited to) attending EMHUA meetings and reporting back to NHA Executive and Council meetings, liaising with clubs regarding umpiring development requirements and maybe the organising of umpiring courses.  Full support by the existing committee will be provided.

Please also forward any nominations for Honary Life Membership of the Association by 30th April 2013, along with a brief explanation as to why they have been nominated.

Regards

Gareth Parr
Hon.Secretary

Men’s Senior County Championships – Team Selection

This is a reminder that Clive Morris (Head coach), James Hewitt (Brains/Hewy) assistant coach and Adam Innocent (Captain) are organising the Nottinghamshire Men’s County side for the County Championships in 2013.

Nottinghamshire came runners up in Division C last year and were promoted and so this year we are in division B. The preliminary tournament to decide semi final places for promotion to A division is being held at Durham University on 11th/12th May 2013.

Please can you pass this information on to all male players within your club and try and emphasise to those players likely to come along that the first two training sessions and selection is fully open to all, AND FREE.

With Notts clubs fairing well this season we are hoping to represent as diverse a spread of the County teams as possible.

The training/selection session dates for your diary are…..

Wednesday 17th April –7:30pm to 9:00pm – Open to all
Wednesday 24th April – 7:30pm to 9:00pm – Open to all (Sand Pitch)

Wednesday 1st May – 7:30pm to 9:00pm – Training match vs. Lincolnshire – Final squad only

Wednesday 8th May –7:30pm to 9:00pm – Final squad only

All training is at Highfields on the Water (Except as noted above).

Please try to arrive 15 minutes early to all of the sessions so we can maximise the pitch time.

As mentioned earlier, the preliminary tournament for enty into Fainals day will be held at DURHAM UNIVERSITY and will be on 11th – 12th May 2013. An overnight stay will be required and supported by the County Association.

If we finish in the top 2 of the group we will qualify for the Semi-Final / Final on Saturday 1st June at Abbeydale, Sheffield.

To qualify to play for Nottinghamshire you must fill one of the following criteria;

1) Play for a Nottinghamshire affilliated club
2) Live in Nottinghamshire
3) Attend a School or University affiliated to Nottinghamshire
4) Have been born in Nottinghamshire

Please feel free to invite others along to the training sessions if they meet the above criteria.

Successfully Reunited!

To the anonymous traveller who posted a found Notts U13 hoodie to me which had been left on a train from Newark to Edinburgh,

You will be pleased to know that it’s owner has been traced and they will be successfully reunited with their top on 11th July.

Their response to me;

“Thank you so much – I though it was lost forever!”

From me to the anonymous traveller – “Thank you very much for your extremely kind gesture.”
