Nottinghamshire HA Chairman’s Team

Please see the below from our Chairman;

To All Men’s clubs Nottinghamshire Hockey Association

Dear All, I have been invited to field a Nottinghamshire HA Chairman’s team to play a warm-up match against the Notts U17 boys JAC squad and would like to have representatives playing from as many Notts men’s clubs as possible. The team can be of any age group but please let me know if you are nominating anyone U18. Feel free to nominate several players if you wish. I do need 16 or even 18! I have Umpires already (surprise).

The match is on Friday 28/2/14 7.00-9.00pm on the SAND DRESSED pitch at Highfields. There will be no cost to the players and some County colours shirts will be available for them to play in.

I appreciate it is the day before most of you will play league hockey however I would welcome nominations from your club on the attached form. I don’t intend to wear your players out!

It will be welcome practice for the boys and a good opportunity for a player from your club (or two) to enjoy some social but hopefully competitive hockey in a different environment.

Please give it strong consideration and fill in and return the form as soon as possible and definitely by 14th February at the latest. If you want to say no then do please let me know that so I don’t start chasing the reply.

Regards & best wishes

Andy

This has gone out to all Club Secretaries with Men’s sections.  If you want to play, put your name forwards!

Nominations to Notts HA Chairman team 2014

Phil Wyville – 1984-2013

It is with great sadness that Notts Hockey reports that Phil Wyville, of North Notts Hockey Club, has lost his long battle with cancer at the age of just 28.

Phil was a promising junior and, even when diagnosed, continued to turn out regularly when he could, at whatever level spaces were available.  During one of his remission periods he also took on the captains role for one of the teams I played for.

His ‘never give up’ attitude and drive to help anyone and everyone that he could, meant I was honoured the he received the NNHCs Endeavour Award in my final season as club president.

Although I may have moved on from NNHC I still have many friends there, as I know did Phil, and he will be sorely missed by us all.

Taken far too early, he leave a wife, Sam and baby daughter, Maisie.  Our thoughts are with them and the rest of their families at this time.
