Nottinghamshire County Council Budget Consultation Request for Support‏

You may be aware that Nottinghamshire County Council are consulting on their budget proposals and that it is currently live with consultation ending on 5 February 2016.

The details for the Sports Service team (currently seconded into the County Sports Partnership) are on the link below. In summary, the proposal is to reduce the current team of 6.6 posts by half starting 1 April 2017 and then to remove funding altogether from 1st April 2018.

http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/get-involved/budget-consultation-201617/children-families-and-cultural-services-budget-proposals/b13-removal-of-sports-funding

As a key partner of Sport Nottinghamshire, we need your help to help make the case to retain the Nottinghamshire County Council sports service team. Please distribute this request through your networks and submit your views by the deadline of 5th February 2016. Views can be from individuals and organisations.

Although we fully appreciate the financial position Nottinghamshire County Council find themselves in, we are very concerned that a complete removal of the sports service team will have a hugely detrimental impact on the County. This would reduce our ability to perform a wide variety of important services, including supporting under-represented communities, attracting external income, developing new sporting programmes and supporting major events.

If you have any queries regarding this, please feel free to call any one of the team on 0115 848 3469.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,

Ken Pollard
On behalf of the Sport Nottinghamshire team.

#ThisGirlCan – Take part in physical activity for FREE in Nottinghamshire – Sportivate Funding round‏

THIS GIRL CAN – Take part in physical activity for FREE

Through Funding for Women and Girl sessions through SPORTIVATE!

To celebrate and mark International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March Sport Nottinghamshire are opening a 4 week additional round of Sportivate specifically for female projects taking place within Nottinghamshire for delivery between May 2015 – March 2016.

Sportivate provides funding to encourage those aged 11-25 years to engage and stay in physical activity through a series of sessions.  Funding can be used for facility cost, equipment, incentives, marketing and any training needed!

To encourage more females across Nottinghamshire to get involved and through the Sport England THIS GIRL CAN programme we invite applications from 8th March. We are looking at targeting females who haven’t previously engaged in physical activity or do so but to a limited degree at present.

What can you offer as a club or organisation to help increase the number of females engaging within sport and physical activity and in turn increase your membership / participation?
