There is a fantastic giveaway on offer to help sports fans and local clubs get their event buzzing, thanks to Nottinghamshire County Council and Sport Nottinghamshire.
They have been working together to provide a number of sports accessory resource packs being made available to celebrate less than 50 days to the start of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The packs are designed to help create a memorable atmosphere at sporting occasions and maximise participation in sporting events. But the winning entrants must demonstrate how they would boost sports participation in their sport.
Each resource pack includes:
- pens
- balls
- flags
- water bottles
- thundersticks
- bunting
Anna Quick, Sports Development Officer, at Nottinghamshire County Council said: “London 2012 is almost upon us so it seems like an appropriate time to launch this offer to local communities.
“These resource packs will help successful local sports clubs and associations to help add extra atmosphere to any events they have planned in this significant year of sport.”
Earlier this year, hundreds of Notts sports clubs and associations were invited to take part in two key events being organised by Nottinghamshire County Council and Sport Nottinghamshire to prepare them for managing the expected rush of enthusiasm in sport after London 2012.
The county council produced an Olympics toolkit with some key hints and guidance for clubs and associations to follow. The toolkit was unveiled at the meetings and includes key information about funding streams, maximising Olympics initiatives such as Sport Makers volunteering, the Torch Relay, The Gold Challenge and Sportivate, plus information on key contacts and support available.
Entrants need to be registered on the Nottinghamshire club database at www.sportnottinghamshire.co.uk to qualify.
Once registered, they will then need to email the county council’s sports development team sports@nottscc.gov.uk with the name of their club or association and details of what events or activities they are putting on over the Olympic or Paralympic Games to attract new members to their club.
The first fifty entrants with the best answers to boosting sports participation will win.
